Henry De Vries, 92, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.

He was born in Norden, Germany and moved to Port Charlotte 17 years ago from Miami. He was a retired auto mechanic who worked in Canada and Miami. He was a member of the German – American Club of Charlotte County.

Survived by his brother, Helmut (wife-Else) De Vries of Port Charlotte; a sister, Grete Prause of Germany; Preceded in death by his wife, Irma Graf De Vries passed in 2009.

Dar Helmut, Else and Grete, I am sorry about your lose of Henry. Henry was my husband Ray's roommate that last week at Fawcett. Henry was a nice guy. He was well aware of what was going on and really appreciated all that was done for him by all the employees, friends and relatives who came to see him. It was great that a phone call could be made to Grete. I don't know if they actually got to speak but the effort was a good thing for Henry. We will remember Henry at Mass this Sunday.
