Sherman L. Hicks, 76, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Friday, January 19, 2007 in Port Charlotte at his residence.
Born April 20, 1930 in Apple Springs, Texas, Sherman, a U.S. Army veteran, Korean War, moved from New Orleans, Louisiana to Port Charlotte in 1981. The former Assistant Director of Engineering for the former Bon Secours Hospital, now Peace River Regional Medical Center of Port Charlotte, he also worked for Cardinal Health of Fort Myers, Florida before retiring. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Mary Ellen Hicks; three children, sons Dale “Dusty” Drude and Steven Drude, both of Livingston, TX, and daughter Sharon Rojas of Houston, TX; three brothers, Gerald and Terrell Hicks, both of Houston, TX, and T. L. Hicks of Albuquerque, NM, one sister, Ruth Melvin of Panama City, FL; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
