Mildred “Millie” Freestate, 92, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, FL, after a brief illness.
Millie or just “Mil” to her family and friends, was born on February 17, 1925, in Lyons, Illinois. She was married to Charles H. Freestate for 67 years. They resided in Illinois where they had a small farm and raised horses and other animals while she also took care of her family and home. They retired to Port Charlotte in 1978. They spent many years traveling and enjoying life. Millie loved to crochet and do needlework. In recent years she loved playing bingo with her friends.
Mildred is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon L. and David J. Abel of Port Charlotte, FL; a granddaughter, Judy Shaver, and grandson, Kevin (Jolene) Shaver; great grandson, Tyler Shaver, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles.
No public services are planned at this time for Mildred. The Freestate family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mildred’s name be made to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238.
