Grace was born September 19, 1922, to the late Thomas and Josephine Clunen, in Sebring, Ohio. A retired Nursing Home unit secretary, Grace and her loving husband of 41 years, Vincent E. “Vince” Wahl, moved to Port Charlotte from Sandusky, Ohio in 1976. Grace and Vince were both members of San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. They spent much of their retirement years together enjoying various activities. Grace often accompanied Vince who was an avid experimental aircraft hobbyist, to watch the aircraft fly.
She is survived by her and Vince’s children, son Vincent E. (Sp. Hollie) Wahl, Jr., of Whitehouse, OH, daughters Rebecca (Sp. Joseph) Rader of Findlay, OH and Susan (Sp. Thomas) Lape of Valley Grove, W.VA; numerous grand and great grandchildren; a nephew, Wilbur Clunen, and many extended family members and friends. In addition to her late parents, Grace was preceded in death by her brothers Wilbur Clunen, Sr. and Thomas Clunen, and in March of 2009, her husband Vince.
Due to concerns for the health and welfare of both family and friends and to help prevent the further spread of Covid 19, a private committal will be held for Grace at Restlawn Memorial Gardens cemetery in Port Charlotte, Florida, where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband Vince. A Memorial Mass celebrating Grace’s life will be held in Port Charlotte at a date, day and time to be announced when circumstances surrounding the Pandemic permits safe scheduling.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Grace’s name to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County, 3519 Drance Street, Port Charlotte, Florida 33980.
