David R. Veldhouse, of Punta Gorda, FL and formerly of Morristown, TN and KC, MO, was born on November 22, 1947 in Humboldt, IA, passed away on March 23, 2019.

He graduated from Humboldt High School, Humboldt, IA in 1966. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971. He was a life member of VFW Post #5266, Morristown, TN and a member of the American Legion Post 103, Punta Gorda, FL. David retired in 2001 after working as a civilian for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Kansas City, Mo for 20 years. He and his wife, Pat, spent some of their retirement years touring and enjoying the southeast in their RV while also visiting their children, grandchildren and other family members. After spending 12 years as “snowbirds” in FL they finally became permanent residents of Punta Gorda, FL.

David was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Faith Veldhouse of Humboldt, IA.  He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Patsy J. (Baker) Veldhouse, two sons, Scott Veldhouse, (Paula), Bloomfield, NE, and Todd Veldhouse, (Tammy), Grundy Center, IA, three step-children, Jeffrey Ridenhour, (Ruth), Hayes, VA, Deborah Taylor, (David), Springfield, MO, Sheri Hensley, (Jeff), Morristown, TN, a sister, Janice Holmes, St. Charles, MO, a brother, Jerry Veldhouse, Raytown, MO, three sisters-in-law Angela Bryant, (John), Ullin, Il, Kathy Lentz, (Rick Love), St. Petersburg, FL and Tonia Capel, (Kim), Anna, IL, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends from various locations in the US and Canada.

Visitation will be held at the Crain Funeral Home, Ullin, IL April 6, 2019 beginning at 2 p.m. with the service following at 4 p.m. Burial will be immediately following the service at the Ullin Cemetery, Ullin, IL with military honors.
