Our memories of Dick were always very positive. When we visited him prior to coming back to Canada last Fall he said he was ready to go and he felt he had had a very full and satisfying life. It was a pleasure to know him.
Don Beatty left a message on September 16, 2016:
About 5 or 6 years ago while visiting my sister in Port Charlotte, she told me of Richard and his experiences on the island of Iwo Jima during WWII. She arranged to meet him and introduce us. We went to Cracker Barrel for lunch and he had his usual for that day and ordered his "Just one Biscuit" along with his chicken meal. Richard shared his experiences reluctantly about what he saw on Iwo and I was honored to meet him and listen to his stories. I am sorry for your family's loss and as I said, honored to have met him.

Richard volunteered in my department at Bayfront Port Charlotte for many years. I always enjoyed our conversations and feel blessed to have known him. Rest in peace, Richard

My earliest memory of Uncle Dick is being with him at Jones Beach. I remember an apartment in BayRidge-Brooklyn with Aunt Josephine

My deepest sympathies to the family of Richard. I didn't even need to know him to know that he was one of the kindest men with the most gentle heart. He leaves behind a beautiful granddaughter who got her charm from this man and I'm sure of it. God bless the Brown family now and always.
