Margaret E. Jackson (Augst), of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away peacefully at home to live with Jesus, on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the age of 99.

She was born on October 6, 1916, and raised in Lake Odessa, MI, the daughter of Leon and Ethelyn (Richardson) Augst. She was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker until her children were grown. She then worked several years for Arbaughs Department Store, ending her working career at the Highway Department for the State of Michigan.

She was blessed with many interests and artistic talents, excelling in all. She was a letter writer to friends and family, writing stories and poems, painting with oils, sewing, baking, home decorating and so many other things. Margaret loved the Lord and she was involved for many years in teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and many classes in Lansing, Remus, and Port Charlotte churches. She served specifically in the Nursery Department at Colonial Village Baptist church for 23 years. She also served 23 years in the Special Needs class at Port Charlotte Baptist Church.

Surviving Margaret are two daughters, Dolores Sevenski of East Lansing, MI, and Diane Durow of Rotuna, FL; a son, Brian (Lynette) Jackson of Lansing, MI; six grandchildren, Amy Sevenski Varney, Kelly Sevenski Shipman, Aaron Jackson, Emily Jackson Riehm, Kimberly Durow, and Alissa Durow Eck; and eleven great grandchildren, Travis Varney, Olivia Varney, Hailey Shipman, Jessica Shipman, Madison Shipman, Brian Roland Jackson, Luke Jackson, Calvin Jackson, Grace Jackson Riehm, and Hayden Durow. Margaret is also survived by extended family and a host of dear friends who join the family in mourning her passing and in giving thanks to God for her life among them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland E. Jackson Jr., on January 15, 2000. Also sons Thomas Ross Jackson and Craig Roland Jackson and great granddaughter Sadie Margaret Durow. Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Roland E. and Ludie Belle Jackson; brothers Leonard and Gerald Augst; and sister Gaytha Augst Kime.

The family will be receiving guests for viewing on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration service at 11:00, at First Baptist Church, Port Charlotte. She will be laid to rest at 2:00PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Glendale Cemetery in Okemos, MI.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret asked that donations be made to the OMS Life Foundation, PO Box 2899, Cypress, TX 77410. OMS is a rare autoimmune disease caused by Cancer that her great grandson, Luke, has been fighting.
