Kenneth E. Ferris, 90, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Watertown, NY, died peacefully October 6, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte.

Kenneth was born June 7, 1927 in Endicott, N.Y. to the late Ralph and Bessie Ferris. Kenneth was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired retail manager (S.E. Nichols). He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Port Charlotte.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Ferris; his children, Nan Ferris, Pompano Beach, FL, Jane (John) Inghem, Boca Raton, FL, Todd (Lynne) Ferris of 3 Mile Bay, NY and Donald (Diann) Ferris of Syracuse, NY; six grandchildren; and his sister, Evelyn Schmidt.

Memorial services and military honors will be held October 28, 2017, 11:00 AM Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 2230 Hariet St, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to First Presbyterian Church.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Ferris family. I worked for Mr. Ferris at the Watertown Nichols store for two years in the 1970's. He was strong leader, and always a gentleman. To this day, whenever I run into coworkers we always share the good times from our Nichols retail days. We actually felt like family, thanks to Mr. Ferris's guidance. He made a difference.
