A Celebration of Judy’s Life will follow at 12:30 PM at the Punta Gorda Boat Club, 802 W. Retta Esplanade, in Punta Gorda, FL 33950.

Judy was born August 4, 1940 in Chicago. IL. She was the oldest of four children, and attended St. Mary’s High School in Woodstock, IL. Judy met Carl Silva in 1957, and they were married September 6, 1958. Judy and Carl had two children, Wendy and Bill. Carl and Judy were self-employed, and they worked together building a business that continues today. They moved to Florida full-time in 1997. In Florida, Judy enjoyed time with family and friends, and volunteered with Tidewell Hospice, and her church of sixteen years, Pilgrim United Church of Christ. Judy served the Homeless Coalition, and also helped young people become better readers. She was a member of the Punta Gorda Boat club for over twenty years, where she volunteered for many committees and events, and developed many close friendships. Judy and Carl shared many adventures including: sailboat cruising, rafting down the Colorado River, riding out the Storm of the Century in the Dry Tortugas, and sailing a 44’ sailboat across the Atlantic Ocean. Judy will be warmly remembered by her friends and family for her numerous sayings, her positive spirit, can-do attitude, and her generosity to family and others.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Silva; children, Wendy (Lee) Mikos and Bill (Nancy) Silva; 2 sisters, Katie (Tony) Zimmerman and Mickey (Randy) Willer; her brother, Patrick O’Grady; 5 grandchildren, Heather, Nikki, Danielle, Brian and Shelly; 2 great-grandchildren, Carter and Olive and several nieces and nephews.
