Joseph R. Goggin, MD, 78, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Monday, September 4, 2017 at Harbour Terrace, Port Charlotte.
Dr. Goggin was born June 22, 1939 in New York City, New York to the late Joseph M. and Beatrice (Butler) Goggin. He graduated from Xavier High School, Fordham University, and New York Medical College. He served in the US Army from 1971 to 1973. He, his wife and family moved to Port Charlotte in 1973 where he practiced General Surgery, headed the St. Joseph Hospital Caravan and the Charlotte County Health Department. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for 44 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judith E Goggin of Port Charlotte; Daughter Clare (Adam) Sivits of Portland, OR; three sons: Michael of Port Charlotte, Peter (Beth) of Alpharetta, GA and Daniel of Brownsville, TX; a sister Marianne of Florida and a brother, Mark of California and a granddaughter, Cecilia Grace.
A memorial mass celebrating Dr. Goggin’s life will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:30am with interment in the St. Charles Borromeo Memorial Garden.
