I had the pleasure to know and work with Joe at the CCSO for several years, Joe was one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure to call my friend. Joe always had a warm greeting and a smile as large as all outdoors for all he met. All that knew Joe are better for being a part of his life. Condolences for the family. I can see Joe's smiling face as he once again reunited with his Barbara. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember when we first met Barb and Joe (Jim). Barb would call him Jim and I finally said "I thought your name is Joe?" Barb said his family calls him Jim. He and Irvin worked the CSA position in Englewood until the Sheriff felt the need to do away with the positions and purchase unneeded Sagways. What a loss to the community. Now Joe you are a blessing in Heaven and we will feel the loss here once again. Rest in our Father's arms.

You and your family have my condolences, i couldn't help notice that you didn't include his wife of 30 years Barbara Burns nor his step children? Sometimes life is fair but the memories will remain. Karma will always come back around. RIP
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

The first time I met Joe he was with Barbara and they were doing something with the Sheriff's Office. What a wonderful man. I learned that he was Theresa's father and we were able to share many dinners out with them. He certainly lived life to the fullest. Every single time I saw him he had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. I'm sure when he gets where he is going, he will be greeted with a smile and a kind word.

Dad- I forgive you and I hope that you forgive me. Life is a treacherous journey full of personal battles, demons, potholes, accomplishments and failures. As you told me so often, life is short. That is very true. In a perfect world, we would all get along and reap God's Master Plan. The reality (as it turns out) is that we just want to survive with sword/shield in hand and tread water in this crazy world until we get to God's Garden. As for you departure dad....I leave you with the words of your father (Grandpa Burns). Your father always told me to never say good-bye. Good-bye is permanent (According to Grandpa Burns). Grandpa Burns reminded me to say "So-Long," instead. So Dad, it is with a heavy heart that I say a fair and final "So-Long. " I hope to see you on the other side where there is peace, love and tranquility.....and maybe even share a beer! Godspeed, dad!
