John “Jack” William Lee, 93, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully in Port Charlotte on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015.
Born June 12, 1922 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late James H. and Esther M. (Gaines) Lee, Jack, a graduate of the Wooster Institute of Technology in Massachusetts, in 1944, joined the U.S. Navy upon graduation and served in a Seabees Battalion with a rank of Lt. during World War II. Retiring as a Civil Engineer, Jack moved to Port Charlotte in 1981 from Wilmington, DE. He was a member of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, Kingsway Country Club, the Peace River Power Squadron, the Masonic Order and Masonic Bodies, and was a life member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his sons, Dr. John W. Lee, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Jane Fassinger of Magdalena, NM, and Thomas G. Lee and his wife Valerie Lee of Moscow, ID; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Richard, Robert, Jack and Niki; and a great granddaughter, Jordyn Lee. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. James Lee, a sister, Margaret Lloyd, and his beloved wife Dorothy “Dottie” Lee.
Graveside Services and Interment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Brian James of Port Charlotte United Methodist will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Peace River Wildlife Center, 3400 Ponce de Leon Pkwy, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
