Harriet Anne (Jacobsen) Samson, 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Cheryl Head in Port Charlotte.

Anne was born 3rd of 13 children to Edgar and Myrtle Belle on April 23, 1929 in Norman, Nebraska, NW at her grandparent’s Jacobsen Farm. During her life, Anne turned her hands at many things, from farm hand to waitress as well as usher, phone operator and seamstress. Her late husband, Robert Samson worked for the NSA and Anne was privileged to spend many years in Turkey and Germany stations that allowed her family to visit much of Europe. Back home in Maryland, Anne enjoyed learning new crafts which allowed the whole family to appreciate her talents. Robert and Anne retired to Port Charlotte in 1979 where she expanded her talents to counted cross-stitching, painting, drawing, fan making card embroidery. In her later years, she worked with hundreds of jigsaw puzzles. Family was very important to her. Prior to computers, she researched her family tree back 8 generations sharing all she learned with her family. The importance of family also showed in her annual return trips to Minden, Nebraska for family reunions. These events were greatly cherished by all her family. Now she has gone to attend a family reunion with those that have gone before her.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Head; 2 sons, Douglas and James Samson; 3 grandchildren, Ty Towse of Danville, CA, Janel Rossetto of Jacksonville, FL and Justin Head of Dublin, CA; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler & Sofia Towse and Isabella and John Rossetto; 9 younger brothers and sisters who still reside in Minden, NE.
