Gerard J. Rykiel, 72, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte.

Gerard was born to John and Helen Rykiel on October 19, 1944 in Baltimore, MD and moved to Port Charlotte 7 years ago from there. He was an amazing husband and father who enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved his sports especially the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He was an avid reader and enjoyed his fish sandwiches and steamed crabs but mostly spending time with his family and friends. Gerard will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn; 2 sons, Jeffrey Rykiel and Jason Rykiel, MD; 4 sisters, Patricia Shaverdian, Ramona Hasenbien, Susan Gallion and Joanne Logan; 3 brother, John Rykiel, Randall Rykiel, and Christopher Rykiel and 4 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 1:00PM-2:00PM with a Scripture Service to follow at 2:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Interment will follow to at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL.
