Enid was born to Hubert and Catherine Surgeon on February 11, 1920 in Jamaica, West Indies and moved to Port Charlotte in 1989 from Bronx, NY. In her early childhood, she attended Cokes View Methodist School in Everton, Jamaica where she learned the art of dress making. She later moved to Kingston, Jamaica where she studied cosmetology. After graduation, she moved to Black River, Jamaica where she owned and successfully managed her business and later moved her business to Montego Bay in 1954 and afterward migrated to England. In 1955, while in England, Enid married her late husband, Enos Dixon. They both moved to New York and she got a job as the staff at North Central Hospital in Bronx, NY where she worked as a dietary aid until 1989 when she retired and migrated to Port Charlotte. They both were members of St. James Episcopal Church in Port Charlotte where she was active with several organizations including, The St. James Islanders, the Beacon Mailing Group and the Church Choir. Enid constantly wore a beautiful smile, a wonderful sense of humor and was very kind, considerate and generous to all. May her soul rest in peace and reign with Christ in his Glory.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and grand nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held 11:00AM-12:00AM, Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church in Port Charlotte. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00PM at the church. Entombment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, FL.
Friends may visit at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel.
