Dean G. Meyer, 91, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Sunday, December 02, 2018 at South Port Square, Port Charlotte, Florida.
He was born May 30, 1927 in Waterman, Illinois to the late Louis J. and Margaret Hansen Meyer. Dean was a retired Funeral Director and former owner of the Richert & Meyer Funeral Home, Addison, Illinois. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Burnt Store Isles, Punta Gorda in 1987 and then to South Port Square in 2014.
Dean was a life member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 342, St. Charles, IL, Charter life member and Past Commodore of Burnt Store Isles Boat Club, Burnt Store Isles Assn. and the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge 2606, Knights of Columbus Council 8074 and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church
He is survived by his loving family, a son, Dean J. (Diane) Meyer of Minnetonka, MN; a daughter, Denise (Gary) Vance of Westfield, IN; 6 grandchildren, Karen,, Daniel and Kris Meyer, Ben (Lauren) Vance, Nicholas Vance and Elizabeth (Nathan) Wells; and three great grandsons, Owen, Weston, and Mason Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores M. Meyer and a daughter, Doreen Meyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 11:00 AM, December 6, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W. Charlotte Ave., Punta Gorda, Florida 33950. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Navy will be held Friday 1:00 PM, Dec. 7, 2018 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
