CURTIS RAY HAYTER, 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte.
Curtis was born March 14, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, son of the late Edgar and Emily Hayter. He served in the United States Army for over 20 years and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He married Ann McClintick in Dallas, Texas December 12, 1949 and moved to Florida in 1975 from Newport News, Virginia. Curtis is a member of D.A.V. Post 82 and Moose Lodge No. 1693 of Punta Gorda, American Legion Post 110 and a life member of V.F.W. Post 5690 of Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Dolores Brown of Port Charlotte; three daughters, Sue Allen of Lehigh Acres, FL, Betty Hicks of Newport News, VA and Patsy Hayter of Port Charlotte; a step-daughter, Kathleen P. Brown of Port Charlotte; three sons, Robert Hayter of North Port, FL, Kenneth Hayter of North Port, FL and Clifford Hayter of St. Augustine, FL; two step-sons, Denis J. and John P. Brown of Port Charlotte; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Ann, who died in 1991.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday 2:00 PM, August 13, 2017 at the Moose Lodge No. 1693, 27590 Disston Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33982. Graveside services and interment with full military honors by a U.S. Army Honor Guard will be held Monday 10:30 AM, August 14, 2017 at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida.
