Betty True-Richards, 83, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
Betty was born in England, to the late Arthur and Catherine Barnett, on September 2, 1933. She lived through England’s war years and recovery, but left England for the United States. She settled for a time in Michigan where she worked for General Motors for 20 years. Betty was drawn south to Florida and a warmer climate, settling first in Port Charlotte and working at Bayfront Health of Punta Gorda for 10 years before leaving to work for Florida Hospital in Orlando where she lived until returning to Charlotte County where she had first bought a home in the early 1970’s working for Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL, as the CDM, then Director, and upon her passing as Safety Inspector for their Food Services. Betty was a faithful member of the Deep Creek Community Church in Punta Gorda, FL.
She is survived by her loving family, son Nathan A. Wendt of Port Charlotte, grandchildren, Jonathan and Zakarey Wendt, Samantha Clyatt, Krystal Wicks, Donnie Porter & Linda Murphy; 5 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two daughters, Wendy and Gail Milbert, a son, Wade Milbert, and husbands, Nathan A. Wendt, Sr., John True and Donnell Richards, Sr.
A Memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel, 215 Mary St., Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Pastor Steve Glover of Deep Creek Community Church will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty’s name are suggested to a charity of choice.
